House Designs of the Week - Moderno House Plan

House designs that include the striking elements of the Mediterranean and Tuscan regions are signature styles of Sater Design. Although you will find these styles of homes constructed as early as the 1920s, Mediterranean home designs are still extremely popular today. According to a recent article at About.com, Mediterranean homes are one of the three hottest trends in house designs today.

Best-Selling House Designs

Many of our best-selling home plans incorporate details such as archways, columns, and wrought iron accents, home design elements popular in Mediterranean countries. One such house design with Tuscan charm is our “Ferretti” home plan. This best-selling house plan features a courtyard entrance through beautiful wrought iron gates. The gates open to a central loggia (a room with one or more open sides) with a fountain pool.

The courtyard has arched openings that travel the length of the home, one of which leads to a great room through retreating glass doors, bringing the outdoors in.

On the second story there is a loft that opens up to a covered balcony, overlooking the private courtyard.

This beautiful home design has four bedrooms and five bathrooms, with a total of 3031 sq. ft. of idyllic living space.

Another popular style is the modern-day Spanish style, which are home designs that also tend to be Mediterranean in flavor. Our “Valdivia” home plan is one such design, and is a blended influence of Andalusian and Spanish Colonial styles.
