Private Wine Cellar

SORT BY:

Having a wine cellar is not as extravagant as most think. You don’t even need a cellar to have one, which does sound a bit contrary. However, as a slab foundation is one of the most energy efficient foundations you can have, you need not choose between your passion for wine and being efficient.

We have many home designs that feature a wine cellar. They range in size from 3397 square feet all the way up to 8088 square feet. With such a wide selection you shouldn’t have trouble finding a house plan with a wine cellar that is perfect for you and your family.

What Makes for a Good Wine Cellar?

As we said before, a wine cellar need not be in an actual cellar. In fact cellars can sometimes be a bad place to store wine. There are 4 basic rules to follow for a good wine cellar. They must be well vented, free of bad smells, moisture must be controlled, and they should be dark.

A wine cellar that is NOT in a cellar will automatically have most of these requirements met. As they would be in the living space of a home, the temperature and the moisture will be controlled. That is unless you enjoy living in a hot, wet, swamp like home. Most homes are not filled with bad odors and are well vented. And it is easy to place a wine cellar in a home that will be shielded from direct sunlight.

For a wine enthusiast, having a wine cellar within the living space of a home can be ideal. You can easily add extra ventilation and air filtration, as well as keep better control over the temperature. And let’s be honest, who wants to trudge up and down stairs to get a new bottle of wine?

No matter what your passion is, be it wine, or cars, or just relaxing, there is a Sater Design home that will meet your needs. Please feel free to reach out to us if you need any help finding your dream home.
