Cottage Home Plans or Not?

Cottage Home Plans or Not?

When do cottage home plans not resemble a traditional cottage-style home? When it’s a plantation style cottage, or even a mountain retreat style cottage home plan, both of which are available in the Sater Design Collection’s cottage house plans.

Cottage Home Plans: Design Basics

Cottage home plans can come in many different styles, but the basics of this home design are the same. Some of the most prominent features of a cottage house are:

Wide overhanging roofs with multiple rooflines.

Large porches.

Built-ins and fireplaces.

Open and airy indoor spaces.

One of the unique cottage home plans in the Sater Design Collection with all of these features is the “Anna Belle”. This house plan is the perfect example of a plantation-inspired home with its dramatic curb appeal. Two-story columns support the entry portico and roof above, with wide two-story porches perfect for rocking chairs and a swing.

On the other end of the style spectrum, if a mountain chalet design is more to your liking, look no further than Sater Design’s “Buckhurst Lodge” cottage home plan.
