Before we downsized almost five years ago, we had a suburban home with an oversized two-car garage. Now, with a postage stamp-sized backyard, the best we can do is a parking pad! I didn’t consider enough how important that extra space was and how underutilized it may have been.
Long considered free space for our extra belongings (and maybe even parking the car), the multipurpose garage is being rediscovered as more than just storage. Aside from providing protection for our vehicles, now more than ever the dream home garage is being decked out to homeowners specifications, some with high-end finishes.
In the Sater Design Collection, the "Prairie Pine Court" home plan is a great example.
The four-car garage features 12’ ceilings, allowing space for a car lift as shown below. Ample room remains for sports equipment, tools and storage. The possibilities for this large space are limitless, depending on your specific needs and desires.
If you don’t have a garage but have room to build, Sater Design has pre-drawn detached garage plans to fit your needs. The first is the 484 square foot "Two Car Garage" plan with two single garage doors and one side access door.
If you need more space, the "Two Car Garage Plus" plan adds a bonus room above, and also features extra storage below the stairs.
Finally, the "Three Car Garage" plan is our largest garage plan and features a spacious three-room apartment upstairs.
