It is never easy picking the right colors for your house plan, as there is so much to do and consider when choosing the right colors for your house. It is one of the few times when too many choices are just as bad (if not worse then) too few choices. It’s these mind numbing options that can really make you go mental when you are deciding what to do with your house plan. However, here is a list of things to consider when changing the colors in your house plan, which will (hopefully) help you in picking the right colors for your home without growing a mental illness.

However, one other thing to keep in mind is the color or colors you are choosing will they work. Things such as contrast in colors from one room to the next are very important to consider when choosing colors. As you do not want to walk from one room into the other and get a color that does not have any common tone with the rest of the house. It is important to know what you want to do in terms of basic color tone and design. As you want the rooms to have, a cohesive tone that remains unique from one room to another yet blends in with the overall color tone/setting of the house plan. It is always a good idea to use the room nearest to the room you are choosing a color for and think about a light or darker shade of the same color in the room in consideration. For rooms that you want to have their own standalone appeal it is always a good idea to use the color of the dominant colors in use in the room. Things such as the upholstery can really bring a great level of life into a room. Therefore, it is worth considering using the main color of the room’s pieces as the inspiration for the color.

It is important to use colors in your house that you will be able to live with every day. There is no need for you to spend time considering colors that you cannot live with in the long run. I good way to understand what kind of colors appeal to you is to use your closet as a way of finding out colors that appeal to you. If you wear many blacks, whites etc. then you can see for yourself that sober/neutral colors are best for you. If your more of a rebellious person and has a great variety of bold and strong colors then you might want to consider bright colors to decorate your walls. Especially if you are the type to have colourful items in your house such as but not limited to art, sofas, tables, ornaments etc.  However, what if you are the adventurous type and want to move out of your comfort zone of colors? In addition, this seems like your chance but I would highly recommend that you start small do not go from creamy walls to red ones. As you might like it in the start but after a month or two you will end up regretting it. Therefore, although I praise your effort in trying something new I do not make drastic changes instead use subtle colors that will saturate with your wall.

When choosing the perfect color for your home its essential you choose a color that can take the light intensity of the room. As there is no point coloring a room a dark color such as a very saturated shade of brown in a room that doesn’t get much light. As it may seem a good idea but ultimately the room will feel very dark and small because of the color you have chosen. Colors also play a big role in moods this is especially true in bright and dark colors the rule of thumb is as follows. Dark colors tend to make rooms appear smaller than they are whilst light colors tend to make rooms seem larger. This is because dark colors absorb light and light colors reflect light, which In turn makes the room seem bigger or smaller. Another thing to note is that warm colors such as orange, red and yellow tend to give a small yet cosy feeling to the room. Cool colors such as blues and greens give a cooler and calmer appeal and personality to the room. Which is why it is important to give small rooms brighter and light colors. Alternatively, if you want you can use two colors with the wall, which gets the most light being a cooler shade thus letting it reflect more light.

Do you want relax and take a break in the room? Do you want to study and concentrate? On the other hand, do you want a theme-based room? This can be a tough question and the best way to tackle it is by creating a list of what kind of room you want and add things that you want the room to feel like. Also try and visualise the kind of things you would want to place in the room things such as furniture are a great help in visualising the use of a room. As you might want a room that is modern, rustic, eccentric or historic you can visualise the kind of things you would put in said room. Things such as lamps, drapes etc. and this will help you greatly in getting the right color, as it will help you feel the right setting of shade for the room.

Overall, I would like to remind you when picking the color of a room it is important to consider what function painting the room will bring. Will painting the room help it seem light and airy? Alternatively, will it breathe new life into the room giving it a fresh new look? On the other hand, maybe it will visually make the walls look closer or further away. Whatever your reason choosing the right paint and using it affectively will get you your job done.  As well as having, a goal will help narrow the colors to pick from and thus cause less of a hassle.
