The Sater Design Collection was established in 1994. It was created by Dan F. Sater II, FAIBD/CPBD/CGP, as an evolution from his award-winning custom home design business, The Sater Group, established in 1984. In an effort to combine custom quality designs with more affordable pre-drawn house plans, Sater Design Collection has become one of the country’s most recognized residential design firms specializing in luxury home plan designs. Sater Design Collection has been selling pre-drawn house plans online since 1996. Our online presence has allowed us to serve customers from all over the country, as well as internationally.
Dan Sater's Bio
With over 40 years of experience, he is a Certified Professional Building Designer, Certified Green Professional, an active member and past national president of the American Institute of Building Design, and a professional member of the Institute of Classical Architecture. His ability to create home designs with open, flowing interiors that interact with expansive outdoor spaces is unmatched. In fact, Sater designs have earned over 500 home design awards. Dan Sater’s tireless dedication to craft homes that reflect his unique sense of casual elegance has earned international acclaim. His custom design portfolio covers most of the United States and extends to more than twenty countries worldwide.
Dan is very active with his professional association, the American Institute of Building Design. He has served on the national board for over 12 years in various positions, three as president. Dan is also very involved in his church community at New Hope Church. Dan is an avid collector of old Jaguar automobiles. He enjoys watching the squirrels in his backyard (he thinks he knows the names of all of them). He enjoys working with his wife, daughter, and furry daughter. For relaxation, he likes to get away to his happy place in the North Georgia mountains with his family.

Books
In 1998, we published our first book of home plans, “The Cottages”. It was a great success and has been followed up with more than a dozen home plan books. In 2003, Verandah Publishing was created, which is our own in-house publishing company. Our latest publication is “Dan Sater’s Ultimate Luxury Home Plans” book, which is filled with photos and floor plans of the best luxury house plans Dan has created so far. This book and our other award-winning books are available from our online bookstore and other major retailers including Barnes and Noble and Books-A-Million (BAM).
Magazines
In 2001, we published our first magazine, “Florida Floor Plans”. This was followed by “Dan Sater’s Luxury Home Plans” magazine to reflect our national market.
In 2005, Sater Design partnered with Donald A. Gardner architects and created Designs Direct Publishing. Our magazines, including “Designer Dream Homes” and “DDH Presents” are distributed nationally through retailers such as Barnes and Noble, Books-A-Million (BAM) and Lowe’s Home Improvement Centers. It is the only remaining print magazine featuring home plans in the US.
